Rosendo Mateu is the living embodiment of a self-made perfumer. This is reflected in his work, and above all in the perfectionism that defines each of his creations. Rosendo spent 40 years as one of the master specialists at PUIG, one of the world's most prestigious perfume companies. During this time, he developed dozens of fragrances bearing his personal signature, each driven by the ambition to unite commercial appeal with the creation of a distinctive and truly unique fragrance.

After working for some of the world's leading international brands, Rosendo Mateu devoted part of his career to more ambitious and personal projects, including the creation of bespoke fragrances. For these endeavours, he drew inspiration from subjects as diverse as Greek civilisation, the Roman Empire, and the paintings of Francis Bacon.

It was through this last project that he embraced one of the greatest challenges a perfumer can face: creating a fragrance for an exhibition dedicated to the English painter. He spent months studying the scent of paint, canvas, humidity, and even the era in which Francis Bacon lived and worked. The result offers a clear insight into the depth of dedication and artistic commitment that this experienced maestro brings to every project he undertakes.

MAITRE PARFUMEUR

Recognised as a Maître Parfumeur since 2010 — one of the few in Europe — Rosendo Mateu embraced a new challenge in 2017: the creation of a fragrance collection under his own name. The debut collection comprised five fragrances, conceived to be worn by both men and women.

Following his initial limited series, Rosendo Mateu was ready to demonstrate why he is regarded as one of the world's finest perfumers. Since 2017, the ROSENDO MATEU collection has been available at a select number of the world's most distinguished retail destinations.

Both the bottle design and packaging were developed under the direct supervision of the master himself, ensuring a refined and cohesive experience from fragrance to presentation.
